Napier Museum and Art Gallery, Thiruvananthapuram
Situated right in the heart of the city, the Napier Museum and Art Gallery was built back in 19th century in Indo - Saracenic architectural style and has a rich and rare collection of archaeological and historic artefacts, bronze idols, ancient ornaments, a temple chariot and ivory carvings. Also known as the Government Art Museum, it showcases the best of Kerala's rich cultural heritage.
Maritime Museum, Kochi
The Maritime Museum, located at INS Dronacharya in Kochi throws light on the genesis, history, evolution and landmarks of the Indian Navy. Open from 9:30 am to 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm, the Maritime Museum chronicles the history of navy since 1612, when the Indian Marine was established in Surat, India. Kuthiramalika Palace Museum, Thiruvananthapuram
The Kuthiramalika Palace, which has now been converted into a museum, was built by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Balarama Varma. Situated in Thiruvananthapuram, the Palace Museum has been built in the traditional Travancore style of architecture, replete with exquisite woodcarvings and showcases paintings and various priceless collections of the royal family.
Ambalavayal Heritage Museum, Wayanad
Located in Wayanad, the Ambalavayal Heritage Museum boasts of artefacts dating back to 2nd century A.D such as clay sculptures, ancient hunting equipments like bows and arrows, stone weapons and other curios.
Teak Museum, Nilambur
The only one of its kind in India, the Teak Museum at Nilambur contains the treasures of historical, aesthetic and scientific aspects of Teak. The extensive root system of a 55-year-old teak tree exhibited in the portico for welcoming the tourists is itself symbolic of the past, present and future of the museum.
