Eravikulam National Park
Situated along the high ranges of the western coast in the Munnar Forest Division of Idukki district in Kerala, India, the Eravikulam National Park was established with the sole objective of protecting the endangered and extremely rare Nilgiri Tahr- a specie of wild goat and the only one to be found south of the Himalayas.
Notified as a park since 1978, Eravikulam National Park spreads over an area of 97 sq and is located at an altitude of 1400 meter to 2695 meter above sea level. Witness the ethereal scenic beauty of the Eravikulam National Park that is replete with gently rolling grasslands and exotic flowers as you explore the park during your Kerala Tour with A Journey to India.
Embark on jungle safaris within the Eravikulam National Park and meet its various inhabitants such as Elephants, Sambhars, Gaurs, Lion-tailed Macaque, Nilgiri Langur, Tigers and Leopards. Apart from the prized Nilgiri Tahr, the Eravikulam National Park of Kerala India is also home to the unique Atlas Moth. Other tourist attractions include the Anamudi peak (2,695 m); the highest peak in south India located and the myriad trekking opportunities for the adventure seekers.
The best time to visit the Eravikulam National Park is during the months of September to February when the picturesque beauty of the park is at its pristine best. Accommodation options are aplenty at the nearby hill station of Munnar.
