Lakshmi Narayan Mandir
Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, also known as Birla Mandir, was built in 1938 by Raja Baldev Das in 1938, who belonged to the powerful business family of Birlas. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu and his consort, Goddess Lakshmi, the aesthetic temple also contains separate shrines of other Hindu Gods as well.
As you enter the sanctum of the temple, you will be greeted with tall carved domes ornamented with circular ribbed motifs that are a telling proof that the Birla Mandir that took six years to be completed has been built according to the ancient Orissa architectural style. Even though all the deities belong to the Hindu faith, the temple is open to all, irrespective of caste and creed of a person as per the wish expressed by Mahatma Gandhi when he inaugurated the temple.

On the walls, you can see various holy Hindu symbols like Swastik and Aum along with inscriptions from the holy books of the Gita and the Upanishads. There is also a Gita Bhawan, which displays instances from the Indian mythology through paintings. There is also a small Buddha temple within the precincts that depicts fresco paintings from the life of Lord Buddha.
