Dayalbagh Gardens

Combining pleasure and pilgrimage, the Dayalbagh Gardens in Agra is a unique tourist attraction. Known as the 'garden of the Supreme Lord', the Dayal Bagh Gardens also serve as the headquarters of the Radhasoami religious sect.

The Dayal Bagh Gardens are named after Shiv Dayal Sahib, who founded the Radhasoami Satsang movement in 1861. On your tour to Agra, you can witness the grand memorial to Shiv Dayal Sahib located within the precincts of the Dayalbagh gardens itself. The110 feet high memorial is a grand structure made up of pure white marble replete with impressive pillars. Incorporating the elements of all religions- namely Hinduism, Jainism, Islam and Sikhism, the memorial is a superb combination of a temple, gurudwara, vihara and mosque. The memorial also boasts of fine pietra dura inlay work on the inner walls.

A unique feature of the memorial is that it has been under construction since the past 100 years. The followers of the Radhasoam sect believe that tending the memorial is an ongoing process. People fascinated with the intricate architectural handiwork of the craftsmen can actually see the work of pietra dura being carried out by the marble cutters and artisans, which is surely going to be an interesting experience for art connoisseurs. You too can witness this fascinating craftsmanship during your tour of Agra, India
